Am I doing something wrong? I’ve been on Pixel devices since the first one, and on Android since Donut. For some reason it feels like I’m at the bottom of the roll out list. At this point everyone I personally know has received the 14 update and I’m still waiting (on my 7 Pro).

I’m wondering if I’ll even receive it before my 8 Pro gets here in a few days. Besides spamming the button to check in the phone settings, is there something else to do that can force it sooner?

With some very minimal technical skill (and a PC from which you can run ADB) you can install the OTA yourself using adb sideload. Have done it for years.

Yeah I’ve done it plenty of times too… In this case I don’t want to wipe (during the initial bootloader unlock) and then get a new phone in a few days. Too much work to set everything up twice.

The other issue of course is that Google can’t expect that to be the obvious behavior for users. Updates can and should just roll out on time for all users.

You don’t need to wipe to apply an adb side load. Just need to be able to reboot into recovery mode.

Oh well that changes things then. I tried to use the Android Flash Tool and it wanted unlock my bootloader first. It’s been a while since I’ve messed with this. I’ll take a look. Thanks

Pixel Flasher is also available as a GUI solution but I am hesitant to recommend it as the minimal technical knowledge required to sideload and/or root will also help bail one out of problems.

Are you using T-Mobile at all? I wasn’t seeing the Android 14 update on my p7, but then I swapped to a US Mobile Sim and the download was available. I kicked it off and swapped back to the T-Mobile sim and the download stopped and returned to saying no update was available. While I’d like the update to be available to all users regardless, it seems carriers still may have a say.

That requires OEM unlocking (and therefore a wipe of the device, no?). ADB side loading can achieve the same without unlocking or sacrificing security
